  • 512 MB of RAM

  • 2 GHz dual-core processor or better
  • 4 GB system memory
  • 25 GB of free hard drive space

  • Full Battery on your laptop.

Steps to install Ubuntu on VirtualBox

Step 1: Install Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Installing Oracle VM VirtualBox is simple, you just need to hit next.

Step 2: Open VirtualBox, then click “New” to create a virtual machine.

Now you are going to create a virtual machine slot where you will install your VirtualMachine.

Step 3: Now Enter “Ubuntu” as the name. After that, select “Linux” as the type, and select Ubuntu (64-bit) as the version.

Step 4: Click the “Create a virtual hard disk now” option.

Step 5: Select “VHD (Virtual Hard Disk)”.

Step 6: Next, select dynamically allocate storage on your physical hard disk.

Step 7: Specify our Ubuntu OS’s size. The recommended size is 10 GB, but you can increase the size if you wish.

Step 8: After you are done with all the above steps, you will see ubuntu in virtual box dashboard.

Note: You can select the memory for RAM as you wish, however, avoid adding more than 50 percent of your total RAM

Step 8: Now, we have to set up the Ubuntu disk image file (.iso). The Ubuntu disk image file can be downloaded here: Ubuntu OS download

Go to settings and follow these steps:

  • Click “Storage”
  • In storage devices, click “Empty”
  • In attributes, click the disk image and “Choose Virtual Optical Disk File”
  • Select the Ubuntu disk image file and open it

Step 9: As soon as you click “OK”, you will boot to the screen to install Ubuntu on VirtualBox. Now select Ubuntu from the dashboard and click start.

Step 10: After the last step, you will get redirected into a new screen. Select your language and Click Install Ubuntu.
